About
About Façades de Nice.
Façades de Nice was born from a simple wish: to take the time to look at the city differently.
Walking around Nice, I realised that every day we walk past remarkable buildings without really seeing them. Yet facades tell the story of the city: its Ligurian and Florentine influences, its golden age as a winter resort, its urban transformations, its architectural fashions and its craftsmanship.
This site was created to shine a light on these facades, explain them and place them in their historical and architectural context. It is not only about showing beautiful buildings, but about helping everyone understand what they are looking at.
Nice has an extremely rich architecture: Belle Époque, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Neoclassical, Eclecticism, modern architecture… These styles often sit side by side in a single street. Façades de Nice offers an accessible reading of this diversity, without unnecessary jargon.
Including a stop on the world-famous Baie des Anges
The site is aimed at:
- residents curious about their city,
- visitors who want to discover Nice differently,
- and anyone passionate about architecture and heritage.
The content is meant as an invitation to look up, to slow down, to notice the details: balconies, cornices, ironwork, painted decorations, proportions and colours.
Façades de Nice is an independent, evolving project, driven by a passion for architecture, urban history and sharing knowledge. It will grow gradually, with every discovery and every walk through the city.
